Gentle Reminder

Deciphering what we are in control of and what we aren't in control of is a big part of managing depression, anxiety, stress, and overwhelm. One exercise I use for myself and teach clients is the Locus of Control exercise. On a piece of paper, draw a big circle. And then within the big circle, draw a second smaller circle. Outside the big circle write "Things I can't control or influence." Inside the big circle write, "Things I can influence." In the smallest circle write "Things I can control." Sometimes this exercise can bring definition and clarity between the three realities and can bring into focus where best to put our energy and efforts.
